1. The Pick-up

Your designated driver will pick you up from your desired location in Izmir and you will start your journey to Pamukkale, the drive to your first place of the visit will take around 3 hours.

 

 

2. Karahayit Kirmizi Su

Considered a natural wonder, Karahayit’s naturally red spring water is known for its healing effects. The water and the thermal mud are very warm throughout the year; according to the studies and research did by the hydro-climatology institute of Ege University, the water is very rich in minerals, hence the healing abilities for neurological and orthopaedical conditions.

After Karahayit, you will head to Hierapolis with a 15-minute drive.

 

3. Hierapolis

Hierapolis is a place where historical and natural wonders collide. With beautiful white travertine formations due to high calcium oxide waters and archaeological structures from the Hellenistic and Roman eras, the ancient city of Hierapolis is considered a world heritage site and is protected by UNESCO. The buildings and structures in the ancient city date back to as far as the 2nd century B.C.

 

4. Hierapolis Theatre

Hierapolis Theatre is a signature of mankind’s remarkable architectural work from the early eras. With an amazing capacity of 10.000 people, the theatre is believed to be constructed in the first century, A.D. The theatre also received additional stonework and renovations in the 3rd century by the order of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus.

 

5. Antique Pool

Dating back to the 2nd century B.C, Antique Pool, also known as Cleopatra Pool, is an ancient place of leisure; it is said that this pool was favoured by Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Today, the waters are still clear and even though the structures are in ruin, you can still go for a swim in the historical pools!

 

6. Hierapolis Archaeology Museum

Exhibiting the findings from the ancient city of Hierapolis, the museum is composed of three main halls.

One of the halls is dedicated to sarcophagi and various busts, sculptures and statues. Displaying the findings from Laodikeia as well as Hierapolis, this hall features some of the finest artworks from the Roman Empire.

The second hall is dedicated to the display of small tools, trinkets and wares from various archaeological excavations. The findings date back to as far as the 4th century B.C.

The third hall is dedicated to the findings from Hierapolis Theatre. You can view wall reliefs about Dionysos, the legend of Niobe, the crowning of Septimius Severus, the legend of Marsyas and many more. The reliefs are respected as early historical records of contemporary events.

Next, you will be heading to the Ancient City of Laodikeia with a 25-minute car ride.

 

7. The Ancient City of Laodikeia

Assumed to be built in the 2nd century B.C., Laodikeia is an ancient city of high importance throughout history for both Hellenistic and Roman empires. The city has one large and one small theatre, a stadium and gymnasium, a monumental fountain, a grand church and a temple dedicated to god Zeus.

After Laodikeia, you will be heading to Aphrodisias Museum. The ride will take around 1 hour.

 

8. Aphrodisias Museum

Opened in 1979, the museum is mostly dedicated to the display of statues from Aphrodisias excavations. It is discovered that there was a high-profile school of sculpting in Aphrodisias between the 1st century B.C. and 6th century A.D., which explains the abundance of statues and sculptures found in the excavation. The artworks displayed in the museum present an astonishing experience to witness how the art of sculpting evolved throughout the centuries in these lands.

 

9. Drop-off

After Aphrodisias Museum, your driver will take you back to Izmir and drop you off at your desired location.
